Training

Prism Arts provides high quality training sessions for third sector organisations, residential care workers, emerging artists and people with a learning disability. Our training programme is as varied as our clientele and ranges from forum theatre, tackling health and cultural issues, to emergency first aid at work; from the Arts Council sponsored Arts Award to mentoring creative delivery in residential care homes.

Quality is the key to our training programme; we use professional artists to deliver our artistic programme and recognised specialists for our other fields of work.
Running alongside our training programme we offer volunteering opportunities for individuals and artists wishing to develop their skills and experience in participatory arts delivery. This area of work has proved particularly useful for emerging artists requiring professional development.

We also offer training and mentoring opportunities for artists through collaboration with Cumbrian based arts organisations, Creative Futures Cumbria and Soundwave.

Bespoke Training and Forum Theatre

Prism Arts can offer a range of bespoke training packages tailor-made to meet the needs and requirements of your organisation. This can be from any discipline working right across the creative spectrum and including one off pieces of Forum Theatre.

Forum Theatre is an interactive form of theatre that encourages audience interaction and explores different options for dealing with a problem or issue. Forum Theatre is often used by socially excluded and disempowered groups to explore issues and develop solutions. Prism Arts specialise in the development and delivery of Forum Theatre pieces that can meet the needs of our group or be used as part of a training event or conference.

“The Forum Theatre performance from Prism Arts was very informative and thought provoking; the work was interesting and entertaining but got the message across. It helped me understand different aspects of dignity. It was probably the most enjoyable training experience I’ve ever been to. It made me aware of how to treat others; Brilliant; Very informative it opened my mind to a lot more.” – Delegate feedback from a Prism Arts Forum Theatre Commission delivered at the Cumbria County Council Dignity Conference, Kendal, November 2011.
