Outside In: North West

23rd March 2013 – 23rd June 2013, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery Exhibitions Gallery

Prism Arts have been working with Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery and Pallant House Gallery to enable artists to access further outlets for their work and take part in a calendar of events. Outside In provides a platform for artists who find it difficult to access the art world either because of mental health issues, disability, health or social circumstance.

Through this project artists are able to display and sell their work online in their own personal gallery on the Outside In website and were invited to submit works for competition. A panel of industry experts then selected work for the Outside In: North West exhibition at Tullie House in Carlisle from Saturday 23rd March – Sunday 23rd June 2013.

“The exhibition features a selection of works by artists living in North West England who have chosen to align themselves with Outside In. From intuitive artists to self-taught visionaries, Outside In: North West provides a unique insight into the extraordinary breadth of work produced by individuals from outside the mainstream art world.

Outside In provides opportunities for artists with a desire to create who see themselves as facing a barrier to the art world including for health and disability reasons. The goal of the project is to generate a ‘gentle revolution’ which will enable all who create to have their work seen and valued.”
