We are running a Free Youth Theatre for children and young people with learning disabilities (10-19yrs). Thanks to funding from Children in Need and Carlisle City Council.

The free Youth Theatre is running every day between Monday 20th – Saturday 25th of August, 10am-3pm.

During the week the young people will be working to create a performance for Carlisle Fringe Festival which will be shown at 2pm on the 25th August in the grounds of Carlisle Cathedral.

Called “Until the Cow Comes Home” the show is based on a true story from the Carlisle floods in 2015 of a cow who was swept away by flood water and miraculously survived. The show will follow “Clarissa” the cow on her 20mile journey down the river Eden.

The Youth Theatre week is run by our experienced theatre practitioners and artists. Participants will get the opportunity to develop their drama and puppetry skills as well as creating music with local musician Russell Burbush.

Places are available to 10-19 year olds with learning disabilities and autism.

Spaces are limited so please get in touch early to avoid disappointment. For more information and to book please contact us, email: or phone: 01228587691.

“My son thoroughly enjoyed taking part in ‘King Arthur and the Grim Riddling Baron’ [Youth Theatre production 2017]. Everything from making the props and costumes, to working with others and performing. This is something he’d never tried before, so we weren’t sure what to expect, but he loved it.  At school he was always side-lined or given a role in the background, so to share the lead was an amazing confidence boost for him. Thank you.” – Parent of Youth Theatre 2017 participant.
