Sarah has worked in the Further Education sector for over 20 years. Initially a lecturer of Adult Skills for Life and within the Arts sector she has since held management and leadership roles at all levels. She has a broad range of curriculum leadership experience, having led across most sector areas before moving on to Senior Roles overseeing curriculum and quality and now as the Principal of Carlisle College.
With lived experience of FE, Sarah is passionate about the value it has within society and the change it can make to individual lives.
Outside of work:
Although she has never worked in the industry, Sarah studied Fashion and textiles and still has a keen interest in arts and crafts of all kinds. In particular, she enjoys creating soft furnishings using interesting fabrics and makes a lot of her own clothes. Sarah also enjoys being outdoors and exercise. She is a keen cyclist and has also recently taken up running. She also enjoys paddleboarding and canoeing with her husband and two daughters as well as surfing which is another new venture for Sarah recently.
Why she joined:
Sarah is really excited to be joining the board of Prism Arts. With her background in further education she has a real passion for widening participation and raising aspirations and she hopes her experience of education and quality improvement will be useful in this role. Sarah recognises the value of the work that Prism Arts do and feels privileged to be able to be part of it.
