Supported by Prism Arts professional artists the diverse artists on the Studio Arts programme have been working to a professional brief from Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery to create a series of individual pieces that form an arts trail through Tullie’s Border Galleries.
The group has been inspired by the ways of working and the stories of the artists featured in Radical Craft: Alternative Ways of Making. Using objects from the Tullie House collection our artists have been developing their own individual responses and ways of working. This work has led to a series of pieces exploring a range of ideas and techniques including textiles, sculpture and drawing.
As well as being inspired by the objects and the artists featured in Radical Craft our diverse artists have also been inspired by Tullie House Museum itself, carefully considering where their work should sit in the galleries. By placing their work alongside the objects that informed it the artists hope that the viewer will make new and unexpected stories and connections.
