Studio Theatre West

Ever wanted to be an actor, dancer, filmmaker or artist?  Prism Arts runs a programme of workshops designed to develop the creative skills of young people and adults with a learning disability.  The work is delivered by experienced professional artists.

We take a multi art form approach; this means that participants will learn a range of new skills including film making, movement, drama, printing and music.  During the year the group will work towards an exhibition or performance.

Studio Theatre programme in West Cumbria takes place on Wednesday from 9:30am – 3:30pm during term time at Distington Community School, where Studio Theatre acts as the school’s Theatre Company in Residence.

Prism Arts Studio Theatre West Coast: ‘The Saga of Ernest’ In 2017 we toured our production ‘The Saga of Ernest’ around the West coast of Cumbria and the Isle of Man.
This is the film of the performance at Beggars Theatre in Millom.
The production follows the journey of a young boy called Ernest while he attempts to find his family after they disappeared following a Viking raid in their village. It sees Ernest meet an intriguing host of characters including an ice giant and a riddling troll while journeying to save his family before the rise of the full moon. All performed using a combination of live action, puppetry and shadow theatre.
