Carlisle Puppet Pageant 2018: The March for the Unsung Woman

2018

Artform: Visual Art

Partner Organisation: Carlisle City Council

Participants: Children and Young Adults, Adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism, Older People, Stroke Survivors.

The theme for the 2018 puppet parade was ‘The March for the Unsung Woman,’ coinciding with the 100-year anniversary of The People’s Act. The Puppet Pageant featured life-size puppets of ten Unsung Women of Cumbria (such as Lady Ann Clifford, Sarah Coleridge and Sheila Fell) who were accompanied by an array of puppets inspired by their lives. All the puppets were created with communities in Carlisle including schools.

Over 200 people took part in the workshops and over 100 people took part in the parade.
