Radical Craft: Alternate Ways of Making

2017

Artform: Visual Arts

Project Partner: Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery

Participants: Prism Arts Studio Arts

Supported by Prism Arts professional artists, members of the Studio Arts programme worked to a professional brief from Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery to create a series of individual pieces that form an arts trail through Tullie’s Border Galleries.

The group where inspired by the ways of working and the stories of the artists featured in Radical Craft: Alternative Ways of Making. Using objects from the Tullie House collection our artists developed their own individual responses using a range of ideas and techniques including textiles, sculpture and drawing.

As well as being inspired by the objects and the artists featured in Radical Craft the artists were influenced by Tullie House Museum itself, carefully considering where their work should sit in the galleries. By placing their work alongside the objects that informed it the artists hoped that the viewer will make new and unexpected stories and connections.
