Tales of a Long Conflict

2016

Artform: Theatre

Funders: The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Participants: Prism Arts Studio Theatre

Tales of a Long Conflict encompassed seven individual stories and showed the impact of war on people from all walks of life.

Showing the human side of war, the story was told using a mixture of shadow puppetry, projection, spoken word and music from the period; the stories were inspired by the men of the Border Regiment and their families.

The production toured Cumbrian theatres. Extracts from the production were also performed as part of the Armistice Service at Carlisle Castle and at Tullie House, Carlisle.

Project research included visits to Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery and The Devils Porridge Museum in Gretna Green.

Workshops were held with local primary schools and we created an education pack.
