Youth Theatre Carlisle

Joining Youth Theatre gives you the opportunity to act, create theatre props, costumes and puppets, to learn new skills with professional artists, meet new people and perform on stage.

Youth Theatre is our free theatre programme for children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs. It runs on Thursdays, throughout the academic year, with opportunities for skills projects during the school holidays.

The group work together to create original theatre productions which are performed locally.

Youth Theatre participants develop skills in many different elements of creating the theatre productions, from devising, to writing, to music and performing. They are supported by professional artists who have experience in both theatre and visual arts and sessions take a multi art form approach.

Recent productions include; King Arthur and the Riddling Giant and Until the Cow Comes Home.

Participants will:

  • Learn and develop new skills, supported by professional artists
  • Learn to work as a team, building confidence
  • Make new friends and develop new ideas
  • Work in a supportive and non judgemental environment
  • Learn to think and work independently
